大灣區大學，正式成立！

12月6日，大灣區大學在松山湖校區舉行成立大會，標志著這所以理工科為主的新型研究型大學正式落地。

The Greater Bay University (GBU) held its inauguration ceremony at its Songshan Lake campus on Saturday, marking the official launch of this new, research-intensive institution with a focus on science and engineering.

大灣區大學創校校長、中國科學院院士田剛表示，學校的辦學定位為“理工科、小而精、高水平研究型”，基于大灣區相關領域優勢和發展需求，聚焦物質科學、先進工程、生命科學、信息科學技術、理學、金融管理等6個領域，培養具備解決復雜問題和創新實踐能力的高素質研究型人才。

GBU aims to cultivate high-level talent across six key areas: materials science, advanced engineering, life sciences, information science and technology, sciences and financial management.

大灣區大學是由廣東省人民政府舉辦、東莞市人民政府投入保障的公辦普通高等學校。今年6月，教育部同意設立大灣區大學。8月，該校已開學，首屆錄取80位新生。

The Chinese Ministry of Education approved the establishment of the university in June 2023. It commenced its first academic term in August, welcoming an inaugural cohort of eighty first-year students.

學校首批設置數學與應用數學、物理學、材料科學與工程、計算機科學與技術、工業工程等5個普通本科專業。田剛介紹，學生們大一入學后，先不分專業，重在自我探索；大二開始可以自由選擇專業，比如數學、物理、計算機、材料科學、工業工程、人工智能、未來機器人等，并且支持跨學科輔修。

As a publicly funded university, GBU will initially offer five undergraduate programs: mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, computer science and technology, materials science and engineering, and industrial engineering.

The university adopts a flexible academic system based on a four-year structure, with first-year students not being required to choose a major upon entry.

Starting from the second year, students have the freedom to select their majors, support interdisciplinary minors, and are encouraged to find in-depth internships and training at enterprises and institutions during their studies.

田剛表示，學校致力于培養“基礎扎實、視野開闊、知行合一、融會貫通”的灣區新人，通過實驗班、“學術+企業”雙導師制等模式鼓勵學生探索。

大灣區大學按照“一校兩區”開展規劃建設，總占地面積約2000畝，總建筑面積約100萬平方米。其中松山湖校區建筑面積約24.77萬平方米，濱海灣校區建筑面積約75萬平方米，兩校區共同承載“教育教學”“科教產融合”“國際合作”三大功能。
