The Republic of North Macedonia is located in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula in Europe, occupying a strategic position that links Southeast Europe with the Mediterranean region. Over centuries of cultural exchange and coexistence, the country has developed a distinctive understanding of nature, daily life, and beauty. Within the contemporary European context, North Macedonia continues to explore a dynamic balance between preserving its rich historical traditions and engaging with modern social and cultural transformations.

中國(guó)與北馬其頓自1993年建立大使級(jí)外交關(guān)系以來(lái)，始終保持穩(wěn)定、友好的雙邊關(guān)系。北馬其頓積極參與中國(guó)-中東歐國(guó)家合作機(jī)制，在經(jīng)貿(mào)、教育、文化等領(lǐng)域搭建了多層次、多渠道的合作平臺(tái)。近年來(lái)，雙方在基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施建設(shè)、貿(mào)易往來(lái)以及人文交流等方面不斷深化合作，中國(guó)已成為北馬其頓在歐洲以外的重要貿(mào)易伙伴之一。從孔子學(xué)院建設(shè)到醫(yī)療文化項(xiàng)目合作，再到以“美麗外交”為代表的創(chuàng)新交流形式，中-北馬關(guān)系正呈現(xiàn)出更加立體、務(wù)實(shí)且富有溫度的發(fā)展態(tài)勢(shì)。

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level in 1993, China and North Macedonia have maintained stable and friendly bilateral relationship. North Macedonia actively participates in the China-Central and Eastern European Countries (China-CEEC) cooperation mechanism, building multi-level and multi-channel platforms for cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, education, and culture. In recent years, cooperation between the two sides has continued to deepen in areas including infrastructure development, trade exchanges and people-to-people interaction. China has become one of North Macedonia’s most important trading partners outside Europe. From the establishment of Confucius Institutes to cooperation in healthcare and cultural projects, as well as innovative initiatives represented by Beauty Diplomacy, China-North Macedonia relations are taking on a more multidimensional, pragmatic, and people-centered character.

Against this backdrop, China Cosmetics Review recently conducted an exclusive interview with H.E. Mr. Sashko Nasev, Ambassador of the Republic of North Macedonia to China, and Madame Naseva. Centered on North Macedonia’s natural and cultural attributes, the shared foundations of people-to-people exchange between China and North Macedonia, and their understanding of BEAUTY, health and the relationship between inner and outer beauty, the Ambassador and his wife shared their insights and reflections. Framed around the theme of beauty, the conversation highlights mutual understanding and emotional resonance between different cultures, while also illustrating the unique role that beauty and lifestyle play as a bridge in cross-cultural communication.

CCR：請(qǐng)您向《中國(guó)化妝品》雜志的讀者介紹一下北馬其頓的自然與人文特質(zhì)。同時(shí)，在您看來(lái)，北馬其頓與中國(guó)在文化以及與“美”相關(guān)的人文交流方面，已經(jīng)形成了怎樣的基礎(chǔ)與共識(shí)？

Could you introduce to China Cosmetics Review readers the natural and cultural characteristics of North Macedonia? In your view, what foundations and shared understandings have already been established between two countries in terms of culture and people-to-people exchanges related to BEAUTY?

薩什科·納塞夫大使：非常感謝《中國(guó)化妝品》雜志以及中國(guó)朋友們對(duì)北馬其頓的關(guān)注。北馬其頓與中國(guó)地理距離約7000公里，但距離并未阻隔彼此的理解與尊重。事實(shí)上，兩國(guó)人民之間延續(xù)著數(shù)百年的友好傳統(tǒng)，這種關(guān)系建立在相互欣賞與情感共鳴之上。

H.E. Mr. Sashko Nasev: Thank you very much to China Cosmetics Review and to our Chinese friends for their interest in North Macedonia. Although North Macedonia and China are geographically separated by approximately 7,000 kilometers, distance has never hindered mutual understanding and respect. In fact, the two peoples have enjoyed a tradition of friendly relations extending back hundreds of years, built upon mutual appreciation and emotional connection.

在我看來(lái)，兩國(guó)人民有一個(gè)非常重要的共同點(diǎn)，那就是對(duì)“愛(ài)”的重視——對(duì)傳統(tǒng)的尊重、對(duì)家庭的珍視，以及對(duì)人與人之間情感連接的看重。這種價(jià)值觀層面的相通，為兩國(guó)在人文交流中奠定了非常堅(jiān)實(shí)的基礎(chǔ)。

In my view, there is one particularly important value shared by our two peoples—an emphasis on "love": respect for tradition, devotion to family, and the importance placed on emotional bonds between individuals. This shared value system provides a solid foundation for people-to-people and cultural exchanges between our countries.

如果用一句話來(lái)概括北馬其頓，我愿意稱我的國(guó)家為“文化之地，自然之源”。我們是一個(gè)典型的小型歐洲國(guó)家，但擁有跨越數(shù)千年的歷史積淀。從古老文明的遺跡，到多元文化的交匯，再到保存完好的自然景觀，北馬其頓始終在文化與自然之間保持著一種平衡。這也塑造了我們對(duì)“美”的理解——既根植于傳統(tǒng)，又不斷與當(dāng)代生活相融合。

If I were to describe North Macedonia in one sentence, I would call it "a land of culture and a cradle of nature". We are a typical small European country, yet one with thousands of years of history. From ancient civilizations and cultural intersections to well-preserved natural landscapes, North Macedonia has always maintained a balance between culture and nature. This balance has shaped our understanding of beauty—rooted in tradition while continuously evolving alongside contemporary life.

我始終相信，人類共享著一種重要的智慧：世界終將被“美”所感動(dòng)，而未來(lái)屬于年輕人，因?yàn)樗麄兏菀桌斫饷?、感受美并將美轉(zhuǎn)化為創(chuàng)造力。

I firmly believe that humanity shares an important piece of wisdom: the world is ultimately touched and transformed by beauty, and the future belongs to young people, because they are more capable of understanding beauty, feeling beauty and turning beauty into creativity.

正因如此，我們格外珍視來(lái)自中國(guó)的關(guān)注，也非常尊重你們今天所做的一切努力。無(wú)論是在文化、生活方式，還是在對(duì)“美”的共同理解上，這種交流本身，就是兩國(guó)人民情感連接的一部分。

Madam Ambassador, during your time living in China, you have gained first-hand experience of Chinese culture and daily life. From your perspective, what ideas related to beauty, health and skincare among Chinese women have particularly impressed you? Have these observations influenced your own understanding of female beauty?

納塞夫大使夫人：在北馬其頓，女性同樣非常重視自身的美。但我并不認(rèn)為我們依賴某一種非常特殊的傳統(tǒng)方法。如今世界是開(kāi)放的，美的理念也在全球范圍內(nèi)不斷交流與融合。就我個(gè)人而言，我更傾向于以一種現(xiàn)代、理性的方式來(lái)照顧自己。

Madame Naseva: In North Macedonia, women also place great importance on beauty. However, I would not say that we rely on any particularly unique traditional methods. In today’s open world, concepts of beauty are constantly exchanged and integrated globally. Personally, I prefer to take care of myself in a modern and rational way.

我始終相信，美應(yīng)當(dāng)是內(nèi)在與外在的平衡。外在護(hù)理固然重要，但內(nèi)在的健康同樣不可或缺。因此，在我的理解中，美不僅僅來(lái)自護(hù)膚步驟或產(chǎn)品本身，更與飲食結(jié)構(gòu)、營(yíng)養(yǎng)補(bǔ)充以及整體生活方式密切相關(guān)。

I strongly believe that beauty lies in the balance between the inner and the outer. External care is important, but internal health is equally essential. In my view, beauty is not only about skincare routines or products, but is closely related to diet, nutritional balance, and overall lifestyle.

在中國(guó)生活的這兩年里，我接觸到了許多中國(guó)女性。給我留下深刻印象的是，中國(guó)文化中將“美”自然地融入日常生活之中，尤其體現(xiàn)在飲食與健康之間的關(guān)系上。通過(guò)食養(yǎng)來(lái)調(diào)理身體、滋養(yǎng)狀態(tài)，這是一種非常有智慧、也非常東方的美學(xué)觀。

During the two years I have lived in China, I have met many Chinese women, and what impressed me most is how beauty is naturally integrated into everyday life here—especially through the relationship between diet and health. Using food as a means of nourishment and balance reflects a very wise and distinctly Eastern aesthetic philosophy.

我也注意到，有一種在中國(guó)和我們國(guó)家都十分熟悉的天然原料——人參，正在被廣泛應(yīng)用于健康與美容領(lǐng)域。這種對(duì)自然力量的尊重，其實(shí)體現(xiàn)了我們?cè)诮】道砟钌系墓餐ㄖ帯?/p>

I also noticed that ginseng, a natural ingredient familiar to both China and our country, is widely used in health and beauty practices. This respect for the power of nature reflects a shared understanding between our cultures when it comes to health and well-being.

與此同時(shí)，我也感受到中國(guó)化妝品產(chǎn)業(yè)的成熟與專業(yè)。許多產(chǎn)品不僅關(guān)注功效本身，也注重整體護(hù)理體驗(yàn)，這背后反映的是一種將傳統(tǒng)認(rèn)知、現(xiàn)代科技與生活方式相結(jié)合的美妝文化。

At the same time, I have been impressed by the maturity and professionalism of China's cosmetics industry. Many products focus not only on efficacy, but also on the overall care experience, reflecting a beauty culture that integrates traditional knowledge, modern technology, and lifestyle.

在我看來(lái)，中國(guó)女性對(duì)美的呵護(hù)并不流于形式，而是一種長(zhǎng)期、穩(wěn)定、源于自我尊重的日常選擇。這種建立在健康與自知之上的美，本身就非常動(dòng)人，也代表了一種當(dāng)代女性的自信與力量。

In my view, Chinese women's approach to beauty is not superficial, but rather a long-term, consistent choice rooted in self-respect. Beauty built on health and self-awareness is truly inspiring and represents the confidence and strength of contemporary women.

CCR：我們了解到大使先生您同時(shí)擁有深厚的文學(xué)背景。站在文學(xué)與文化的視角，您如何看待藝術(shù)、文化與“美”之間的關(guān)系？這種關(guān)系是否也塑造了您對(duì)人以及對(duì)生活的理解方式？

CCR: We understand that you also have a strong background in literature. From the perspective of literature and culture, how do you view the relationship between art, culture, and beauty? Has this perspective shaped your understanding of people and of life itself?

薩什科·納塞夫大使：我的學(xué)術(shù)背景是文學(xué)，而文學(xué)教會(huì)我最重要的一點(diǎn)是：美從來(lái)不是停留在表面的存在，而是與人的精神世界密切相關(guān)。

H.E. Mr. Sashko Nasev: My academic background is in literature, and literature has taught me one essential lesson: beauty is never something that exists only on the surface—it is deeply connected to the human spirit.

歐洲重要作家之一弗朗茨·卡夫卡曾說(shuō)過(guò)，年輕人能夠理解美。而在我看來(lái)，如果到了我這個(gè)年紀(jì)，依然能夠理解美、感知美，那本身就說(shuō)明內(nèi)心依然年輕。

One of Europe’s most important writers, Franz Kafka, once said that young people are able to understand beauty. In my view, if someone at my age can still understand and feel beauty, that in itself is a sign of remaining youthful at heart.

美來(lái)自四面八方——來(lái)自自然，來(lái)自個(gè)體，來(lái)自文化，也來(lái)自人的精神世界。在我個(gè)人的理解中，每個(gè)人都同時(shí)擁有內(nèi)在生活與外在呈現(xiàn)。當(dāng)一個(gè)人的內(nèi)在世界是豐盈、平衡而美好的，這種美必然會(huì)在外在中自然流露。

Beauty comes from all directions—from nature, from individuals, from culture, and from the human spirit. In my personal understanding, every person has both an inner life and an outer expression. When one’s inner world is rich, balanced, and beautiful, that beauty will naturally be reflected outwardly.

結(jié)合今天的交流語(yǔ)境，我想特別強(qiáng)調(diào)的是：女性是大自然所創(chuàng)造的最美好的存在之一。這種美，不僅體現(xiàn)在外表，更體現(xiàn)在精神力量、情感深度以及對(duì)生命與生活的創(chuàng)造力之中。

In the context of today's discussion, I would especially like to emphasize that women are among the most beautiful creations of nature. This beauty is not only reflected in appearance, but also in spiritual strength, emotional depth, and the creative power they bring to life and society.

Finally, could you share a message with China Cosmetics Review readers, professionals in China’s beauty industry, and all those who pursue beauty and a healthy lifestyle?

薩什科·納塞夫大使：首先，我想表達(dá)我們對(duì)中國(guó)人民的由衷尊重，也非常欣賞中國(guó)對(duì)“美”的理解與長(zhǎng)期培育。

H.E. Mr. Sashko Nasev: First of all, I would like to express our sincere respect for the Chinese people and our admiration for China’s long-standing cultivation of beauty.

在我看來(lái)，最重要的是傾聽(tīng)內(nèi)心的聲音，并不斷培養(yǎng)一種超越表象的能力，也就是我所說(shuō)的“第三只眼”。真正的美，始終源自內(nèi)心的善意與正直。一個(gè)人能做的最好的事情，就是堅(jiān)持做好事，而不去傷害他人。

In my view, the most important thing is to listen to one’s inner voice and to develop the ability to see beyond appearances—what I call “the third eye”. True beauty always begins with inner kindness and integrity. The best thing a person can do is to consistently do good and avoid causing harm.

從今天的中國(guó)，尤其是年輕一代和充滿活力的美麗產(chǎn)業(yè)中，我看到的不僅是傳統(tǒng)之美，更是面向未來(lái)的精神氣質(zhì)。友誼與相互尊重，是最動(dòng)人的美的表達(dá)。要分享美，就需要理解不同文化，接納不同生活方式。

When I look at China today—especially its younger generation and its dynamic beauty industry—I see not only traditional beauty, but also a spirit that looks toward the future. Friendship and mutual respect are among the most touching expressions of beauty. To share beauty, we must be willing to understand different cultures and embrace diverse ways of life.

美連接著一切——生活之美、傳統(tǒng)之美，也包括當(dāng)代創(chuàng)新之美。衷心祝愿中國(guó)美麗產(chǎn)業(yè)持續(xù)保持創(chuàng)造力與責(zé)任感，不斷取得新的成就，也祝愿中國(guó)人民健康、自信、恒久美好。

Beauty connects everything—the beauty of life, the beauty of tradition, and the beauty of contemporary innovation.
