12月21日，日本防衛(wèi)大臣小泉進(jìn)次郎訪問了長崎縣，在陸上自衛(wèi)隊(duì)相浦駐屯地視察了負(fù)責(zé)水陸兩棲作戰(zhàn)的專業(yè)部隊(duì)。陸上自衛(wèi)隊(duì)的“水陸機(jī)動團(tuán)”是一支在離島遭到攻擊時實(shí)施登陸并奪回島嶼等作戰(zhàn)任務(wù)的部隊(duì)。小泉防衛(wèi)大臣不僅觀摩了水中訓(xùn)練，還親自接觸相關(guān)裝備，并試乘了水陸兩棲裝甲車“AAV7”，以確認(rèn)其機(jī)動性能等情況。此外，他還將駐地內(nèi)區(qū)域假設(shè)為離島，視察了包括運(yùn)輸機(jī)“魚鷹”（Osprey）在內(nèi)的展開訓(xùn)練。
