Outdoor brand Patagonia has sparked online debate with its newly launched "Pay for Earth" initiative, which has quickly become a trending topic on social media.
3月30日,戶外品牌Patagonia(巴塔哥尼亞)開啟“地球使用費”活動。
簡言之,自4月份開始,消費者在該品牌官方旗艦店購買衣服后,首件商品將收取運費15元,每增加一件增加5元,若顧客沒有退貨,店鋪將退還費用;若顧客退/換貨,將扣除15元運費,所有未被退還的快遞費用將捐贈給環保公益項目。
Starting in April, customers shopping at the brand's official flagship store will be charged a shipping fee of 15 yuan for the first item, with an additional 5 yuan for each extra item. If customers keep their purchases, the shipping fee will be refunded. If they return or exchange items, a 15-yuan fee will be deducted. All non-refunded shipping fees will be donated to environmental projects.

以購買2件產品為例,顧客將支付20元運費;若最終退/換貨2件,品牌方將不會退還運費;若最終退/換貨1件,品牌方會退還5元運費;若沒有產生退/換貨,品牌方將退還20元運費,2件以上,以此類推。

該品牌方在社媒發布14頁內容解釋“地球使用費”,提到2025年雙11期間,退貨率高達69.7%;2023-2025年巴塔哥尼亞天貓旗艦店因發貨產生了190.36噸碳排放,因退貨產生的快遞導致了40.9噸碳排放……
In a 14-page statement explaining the initiative, Patagonia said that during the 2025 Singles Day shopping festival, its return rate reached 69.7 percent. Between 2023 and 2025, shipments from its Tmall flagship store generated 190.36 tons of carbon emissions, with returns accounting for a further 40.9 tons.
在最后,品牌方還表示,這不是一張冷冰冰的運費調整通知,而是邀請消費者購買前三思,退貨前也三思。
The brand said the policy is intended not only to address shipping costs, but also to encourage customers to reconsider purchases and returns. Public reaction has been mixed.

天眼查App顯示,Patagonia關聯公司上海巴塔戶外用品有限公司成立于2016年3月。值得一提的是,該公司曾因對商品作引人誤解的虛假宣傳、涉及專利的廣告未標明專利號和專利種類,兩次被上海市浦東新區市場監督管理局處罰,合計罰款4萬元。
