大烏龍！美國誤擊派對氣球致空域關閉

據美國全國廣播公司消息，多名知情人士透露，當地時間2月12日，美國海關與邊境保護局（CBP）在未與聯邦航空管理局（FAA）協調的情況下，使用軍方提供的反無人機激光設備擊落數個空中目標，事后確認這些目標為派對氣球。

The sudden closure of El Paso's airspace Wednesday came sometime after US Customs and Border Protection officials used an anti-drone laser that was provided by the military to shoot down objects that were later identified as party balloons, four people familiar with the matter said.

The technology was used without coordinating with officials from the Federal Aviation Administration, the people said.

The testing of US military-owned laser technology was taking place in the proximity of the airport. The FAA responded by issuing a "temporary flight restriction notice", which was to shut down the airspace for 10 days. It prevented flights, including helicopters used for medical transport, below 18,000 feet. The airport is a major hub for the region, with more than 50 flights scheduled every day.
