傲慢與偏見不只是“霸道總裁”達西和“小鎮玫瑰”伊麗莎白的愛情故事，里面有一個真正的人生贏家：
他，白手起家，擺攤賣貨，靠進言國王直接逆襲，拿到爵位！
他，就住在女主伊麗莎白家步行5分鐘的地方。
這位英國老舅就是威廉·盧卡斯爵士。

這是第76天閱讀英文版《傲慢與偏見》，從這篇筆記開始，小說就開啟了CHAPTER V的閱讀，就是第五章。
《傲慢與偏見》第五章主要講述盧卡斯一家人拜訪貝內特家，談論了梅里頓舞會。
盧卡斯經過商當過市長有貢獻被授予威廉?盧卡斯爵士，就是在95版影視上鄉村舞會上活躍的那個老年人，賓利稱呼他威廉爵士，這個人當時我看影視版的梅里頓舞會時，還納悶這個老頭是誰啊。
盧卡斯一家居住在盧家莊，與貝內特一家居住的地方應該比較近。
盧家大女兒夏洛特，與伊麗莎白是好朋友，她和伊麗莎白的表哥柯林斯后來談婚論嫁成了親。
盧家有八個孩子，六個姑娘兩個兒子，重點人物是大女兒夏洛特，小說中提到過小公子，其他幾個兒女沒有重點出現。
18世紀的英國家庭很多都是生育幾個兒女，這點與廣東省有點相似，粵北粵東粵西很多家庭都是生育幾個小孩，傲慢與偏見里的那些倫敦附近的鄉鎮莊園等場景與廣州北部清遠城區很近似。
對《傲慢與偏見》這本小說的閱讀，我愈加感覺是不是18世紀的英國倫敦與當代的粵港澳大灣區在某種程度有近似度。
進入CHAPTER V的閱讀：
Within a short walk of Longbourn lived a family with whom the Bennets were particularly intimate. Sir William Lucas had been formerly in trade in Meryton, where he had made a tolerable fortune and risen to the honour of knighthood by an address to the King, during his mayoralty.
在朗伯恩走一段近路住著一戶人家，與貝內特家來往密切。威廉?盧卡斯爵士以前在麥里屯從事貿易，賺了一筆可觀的財產，擔任市長期間，因向國王進言而獲得爵位。

這一段英文主要是介紹威廉爵士的來歷，經商，當過市長，給國王進言獲得爵士，是個勵志人物，他選擇在朗伯恩附近居住，說明這片區域綜合條件是好的。
這段文字雖短但是有幾個生詞確實陌生，我給出簡潔注釋補充例句：
