新學年，香港弘立書院前總校長Dr. Malcolm Pritchard（查永茂博士）正式擔任啟明星理事會理事！

弘立書院（ISF, The Independent Schools Foundation Academy）是香港知名的IB學校，提供中英雙語沉浸式課程。弘立的畢業生遍布常春藤、牛津和劍橋等歐美頂級名校。

查永茂博士擔任弘立總校長等職務長達16年（2009 — 2025），擁有豐富的雙語沉浸式教學管理和教師培訓經驗。

開學前，查博士已經開始和我們學校的管理團隊溝通交流。他對學校管理、教學規劃提出了深具啟發和可操作性的建議！

問：在您看來，學校應該幫助學生在哪些方面做好應對未來世界的準備？

答：有兩點是學校教育最為需要關注的：首先，知識總是不斷擴展、快速發展的，要學生在學校學習階段掌握全部知識內容并不現實。所以對學生而言，能夠進行適應性強、又能隨時調整的終身持續學習能力至關重要。另外，價值觀和品格一旦形成會伴隨和影響人的一生，因此，相關方面的培養也特別重要。

問：是什么原因讓您決定加入啟明星？

答：我對雙語雙文化的學習方式充滿熱情。我相信這樣的學習方式能為創建一個更美好、更和平的世界帶來最大的希望。啟明星的愿景與使命和我關于雙語雙文化學習的理念高度契合。所以，我希望能成為啟明星教育和學習之旅的一分子！

問：我們想聽聽您對啟明星的觀感？

答：啟明星正處在快速發展的過程中，而且方向是正確的。它以卓越和團結為重點，并以關愛、服務、尊重等核心價值為支撐，為學校的未來奠定了堅實的基礎。

問：您有什么話想要和我們的家長說嗎？

答：教育是我們能給予孩子最寶貴且持久的禮物。作為管理團隊的一員，我會始終將學習者和學習置于所有決策和實踐的中心。

In the new academic year, Dr. Malcolm Pritchard, former Head of School of The Independent Schools Foundation Academy (ISF) in Hong Kong, has officially joined the Daystar Advisory Board!

ISF is a renowned IB school in Hong Kong offering an immersive bilingual curriculum in Chinese and English, with graduates admitted to top universities such as the Ivy League universities, Oxford, and Cambridge.

Dr. Pritchard served as ISF’s Head of School and in other leadership roles for 16 years, bringing with him extensive experience in managing bilingual immersion programs and in teacher training.

This summer, Dr. Pritchard has already begun communicating with the Daystar leadership team, providing highly insightful and practical suggestions on school management and academic planning.

? Bachelor’s degree from the University of Queensland, Master of Arts and Graduate Diploma in Education from Monash University, and PhD from the University of Melbourne

? Former CEO of The ISF Pre-School and The ISF Academy Foundation, as well as Head of School at ISF Academy; Former Principal of Kormilda College (an IB independent school in Darwin, Australia); Former Deputy Principal of Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne, and Founding Head of its Nanjing campus focused on Chinese language and culture immersion

? Founding Chair of the China and Mongolia IB Schools Association; Board member of the IB Asia-Pacific Regional Council; Member of the Boards of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and Australian International Schools Accreditation Authority; Founding Board Member of Shenzhen Mingde Experimental School

? Fellow of the Australian College of Educators (FACE), Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management (FAIM), and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD)

Dr. Pritchard also sincerely shared with us his vision of what education should look like.

Q：How should schools prepare its students for the future?

A：Knowledge is constantly expanding and rapidly evolving; mastery of content at school is therefore impractical. Lifelong or continuous learning that is adaptive and nimble is essential. Values and character will endure for a lifetime. These two aspects are what schools need to focus on most in education.

Q: Why did you decide to join the Advisory Board of Daystar Academy?

A: I am passionate about bilingual/bicultural learning as it offers the best hope for a better and more peaceful world. The Daystar vision and mission align strongly with my own views on this particular approach to learning. I want to be part of this journey.

Q: What is your impression of Daystar Academy?

A: Daystar is on its own rapid developmental journey, but it is heading in the right direction. A focus on excellence and unity, underpinned by essentials such as caring, service, respect, creates a strong foundation for the future.

Q: Any message for our parents?

A: Education is the most precious and enduring gift we can offer our children. As a part of the governance team, my approach will always be one that places the learner and learning at the center of any decision, policy, or practice.
