Highlighting the narrative of place and materiality, Brunswick Yard weaves Brunswick’s industrial heritage into a contemporary residential haven. Designed by Carr, the development merges architecture, interiors, and landscape, with concrete and steel mesh as core expressions of raw elegance. Every detail echoes the suburb’s eclectic spirit, creating a space that honors the past while embracing modern, sustainable living.

突出場所與材質的敘事脈絡，布倫瑞克庭院（Brunswick Yard）將布倫瑞克的工業遺產融入當代居住天堂。由卡爾建筑設計事務所（Carr）操刀，該項目融合建筑、室內與景觀，以混凝土和鋼網為核心，詮釋原始優雅。每一處細節都呼應著這片郊區的多元精神，打造出既尊重過往、又擁抱現代可持續生活的空間。

The seamless inside-out connection is the project’s soul, with 122 apartments across eight levels sharing a consistent design language. Clean facade lines extend inward, while dual-aspect layouts and cross-ventilation blur indoor-outdoor boundaries. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood interiors with natural light, illuminating 3.5-metre-high ceilings and exposed concrete soffits that add volume and tactile warmth. Residents wake to sunlight filtering through steel mesh, with views of the central courtyard’s greenery, fostering a sense of calm amid urban energy.

內外無縫銜接是項目的靈魂所在，八層樓中的 122 套公寓共享統一設計語言。簡潔的立面線條向內延伸，雙向朝向布局與交叉通風模糊了室內外界限。落地窗讓自然光灑滿室內，照亮 3.5 米高的天花板與裸露混凝土 soffit，增添空間感與觸覺溫度。居民在晨光透過鋼網的斑駁光影中醒來，凝望中央庭院的綠意，在城市活力中尋得一份寧靜。

Carr redefines the streetscape by breaking the long frontage into four-storey townhouse modules, softening the building’s mass. Two laneways cut through the street edge, bringing light and air to the site and enabling dual-aspect apartments. The fourth floor recesses as a floating podium, while upper-level setbacks reduce visual weight, harmonizing with the area’s transition to medium-density living. Handcrafted timber doors at ground level add warmth, inviting pedestrians to engage with the vibrant, human-scaled streetscape.

卡爾事務所將綿長立面拆分為四層聯排別墅模塊，柔化建筑體量，重新定義了街景。兩條小巷貫穿臨街面，為場地引入光線與空氣，實現雙向朝向公寓。四層作為懸浮平臺向內退縮，上層建筑逐步后退以減輕視覺壓迫感，與該區域向中密度居住轉型的趨勢相契合。地面層的手工木門增添暖意，吸引行人融入這一人性化尺度的活力街景。

Concrete takes center stage as the singular material, embodying Brunswick’s industrial character with raw honesty. Oxides, aggregate mixes, and surface treatments create varied textures, while the material’s strength allows flexible layouts with fewer vertical elements. Paired with steel mesh—used for balconies, screening, and planting supports—the design blends brutalist rigor with biophilic softness. Vines climbing the mesh will gradually soften the facade, merging the building with nature and enhancing its timeless appeal.

混凝土作為核心單一材質，以原始純粹的質感彰顯布倫瑞克的工業特質。氧化物、骨料混合物與表面處理造就豐富紋理，材質的強度讓布局擺脫過多豎向構件的束縛，更具靈活性。搭配用于陽臺、屏風與綠植支撐的鋼網，設計將野獸派的硬朗與親生物的柔和相融。攀附在鋼網上的藤蔓將逐漸柔化立面，使建筑與自然共生，提升其永恒魅力。

Sustainability is embedded in every layer, from a 7.3 NatHERS score to passive design strategies. Exposed concrete minimizes secondary finishes, reducing embodied carbon, while prefabricated cladding boosts construction efficiency. The demountable cladding system and flexible layouts support long-term reuse, extending the building’s lifecycle. The central north-facing courtyard, with garden beds and canopy trees, serves as an urban sanctuary, while cross-ventilation and thermal mass regulate temperatures naturally, fostering a healthy, eco-conscious community.

可持續性貫穿項目每一個層面，從 7.3 分的國家房屋能源評級（NatHERS）到被動式設計策略皆有所體現。裸露混凝土減少二次裝修，降低隱含碳排放，預制外立面構件提升施工效率。可拆卸外立面系統與靈活戶型支持長期重復利用，延長建筑生命周期。朝北的中央庭院設有花壇與華蓋樹木，成為城市中的一方凈土，交叉通風與熱質儲能系統自然調節溫度，培育出健康環保的社區氛圍。
