Designing a Historical Hiking Route
This summer, 10th grader Kerry Wang completed a very meaningful internship project! The project focused on conducting a feasibility study for a hiking route being developed for organizations such as the Royal Asiatic Society.
During World War II, the U.S. Flying Tigers and Air Force worked with the people of China to effectively combat Japanese forces in the Far East theater. The hiking route starts in Beijing, passes through Zhejiang, and ends in southwestern China. As they follow the trail, hikers can reconnect with the history of Sino-American cooperation against fascism in the 1940s.
From July 23 to July 27, Kerry Wang traveled to Zhejiang to collect information on the route, conduct field research(please see above pictures), complete a feasibility study and draft a route map.
